7/14/11 'Pumpkin News'

It has seriously been seven months but I have my first flower of the year.  One of the mini pumpkins sprouted a flower yesterday and it bloomed today.  The mini pumpkins have spent the vast majority of their lives inside which means they are not 'wind hardened.'  I do not think they would fare well if I planted them outside at this point, so now they just get to spend some time outside on calm afternoons.

Soon they may get to spend some time in the real pumpkin patch.  The big pumpkins have also decided it was time to start flowering.  Well at least the biggest of the big pumpkins has developed some flowers, the others may slowly be catching up or they may be non-starters again this time...time will tell...
