1/14/11 Do you see what I see?

I was starting to give up hope.  I was almost to the point of calling a 'do over.'  I can do that, you know, I have more dirt and more seeds.  My friend Brigitte was kind enough to give me more seeds and a tiny sad tree.  I say sad, because it is a little sad, but being that it has since moved in with the pumpkins, it is a little happier (I think).

I am, however, no longer hopeless.  At first, I thought I saw a little bit of green mold in one of the containers.  It turns out if you look real close, it is actually a leaf.  A leaf!  So, it seems a pumpkin may be able to start to grow in a basement.  I did not expect to see one in the plastic container first.  I thought these little peat containers were supposed to be good for growing things as all of the garden stores have them and we are all supposed to think that they are the best possible choice.  Tupperware seems to work well as well (or maybe I should call it gladware, or maybe just 'tiny plastic container'...Ahh, whatever, maybe I should just go xerox some kleenex).

So, the first pumpkin of the season is going to get a name.  Its name is Marv.  Marv is a better name than A, at least it is a name.  And at least now something interesting is happening.  Lets see what happens tomorrow.  My guess is: very little...I will let you know.
