No, no one has unionized or gone on strike here. Our friends Ollie, Stew and company are on winter vacation. They will be returning soon, I hope...However, in light of recent events, there may not be much to return to. First it was Ned, then Dennis, now Alice. The little pumpkin plants are dying before they have a chance to do anything. Some of them seem to be growing great, and the others just crap out. The only thing that they seem to have in common is they are growing on the north side of the plantation...Perhaps I need one of those sticks that says how much water is in the dirt. I thought that you could tell by looking at it and or touching it. Well maybe there is a secret. Ahh, I do have one thought, I am going to increase the hours of daylight. They are going to have to get up a fifteen minutes earlier and go to bed fifteen minutes later. Any other suggestions?

Are they overcrowded? Maybe misting them with a spray bottle instead of pouring water? I have the same problem with sunflowers, once they get to a certain height they all die. I have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you need to put the plants in more dirt so they can grow a root system. The seem a little top heavy.
