Fluffy the Tyrannosaurus Rex has been doing a marvelous job watching out for the pumpkins. Fluffy had the privilege of watching over the first flowers. The flowers do indeed last for a VERY short time. The first flower bloomed yesterday, but the only part of it that I saw was a little wilted bit of leaf hanging down. The second flower gave a slightly better showing today. The flowers, it turns out, are more orange than they are yellow. How about that...I really did expect yellow, but scraggly little A decided orange was best. The mildew has also decided to return. I went to my local garden store to see if they had any advice on how to deal with this issue. The consensus between them and a few people that I have talked to is to just let it go. Mildew needs a warm and wet environment to grow. I can't do anything about the warm (maybe Al Roker can), and the wet is a must have; without it I wouldn't have any pumpkins. By the way pumpkins are fruit, as are all squashes.
The pumpkins also got a dose of fresh aquafina today as well. They do need the water, as it turns out, if they don't get it, they look very sad. And we can't have sad pumpkins. The garden store lady also said that I should be talking to them; that will help them grow into big strong pumpkins. I see me doing that: me, in a lawn chair, sitting outside in the hot talking to A and 2...If you have anything you'd like to say to them, let me know...I will tell them...

Pumpkins should be whispered to because they hate loud noises.
