8/9/10 Before and After

I would like to go ahead and blame Al Roker for the sad state I found my poor pumpkins in this morning.  Al Roker is the guy that controls the weather, Right?  He easily could have supplied some rain this weekend.  I was at work the whole weekend so the pumpkins didn't get their daily dose of aquafina or rain for that matter, damn Al...

Theoretically, I could have watered them, but Al Roker has his own TV show; he should be able to make it rain.  Anyhow, I gave the poor 'wilty' pumpkins some water.  Judge for yourself between the morning and the afternoon...

A (on the left) before half a bottle.  And A again (on the right) after a few hours with some blessed aquafina.  Aside from the dead-ish little yellow leaf sticking out, you have to admit that A looks A LOT perkier...

And now for something completely different...My newest friend of the pumpkins has offered some assistance in the pumpkin protection plan, 'Hired Guns,' if you will.  First, though, lets not forget about C.  Remember C?  He was the little guy that never joined the party...Since A and 2 now have protection, I wanted to give C something too...From now on, we are just going to pretend that C (little plot of land and all) has just traveled back in time to the time before pumpkins were plants.  So, C has a new friend; I'll leave it up to you to name him.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm going to guess that no one cares that pumpkins were once used to make pie crusts instead of pies themselves.  If you do indeed care, then I would like to tell you that pumpkins were used to make pie crusts instead of just the pies...

But I digress, Back to the new premium pumpkin protection plan.  Meet Ollie and Stew, or Wally and Steve, or 'the guys with the guns...'  The guy hiding in the back with the rifle is watching over the whole pumpkin plantation while the guy with the six shooters is there for the sole protection of 2.

One more thing.  The last post had a close up of 2.  There was some speculation that maybe 2 was about to have a flower.  The little bud like things were not flowers, they were indeed just some more leaves happening.  I liked the picture though, so I figured, why not take another.  Also here are a few more of the new guys...

On the left is either Ollie, or Wally or some random guy with a gun in my yard.

The guy over there on the right is Stew, Steve, or random guy number 2 standing in front of '2' the plant.

And below is the Trio of new fellows...

You thought I forgot about my macro of the bud deely huh...Until next time...I'm still waiting for that 10-15 pound growth spurt...

  2. P.S. If the "bud deely" IS just more leaves, I wonder if you're supposed to pinch them off like tomatoes? Tomatoes get those extra leaves in their arm pits like that and you're supposed to get rid of them to promote growth on the main plant...
