Have so very little to do with my pumpkin plants (at least at this time-maybe they'll last till thanksgiving-unikely). It's August, and its going to be 55 degrees tonight; I have yet to see either pumpkin attempt a girl flower. 2 has, however, come pretty close to perfecting the boy flower. I am hoping that summer lasts as long as possible; no frost till november (crossing my fingers). I do think that frost won't be a problem for quite some time, but I must always consider the welfare of my pumpkins...

2 had the nicest flower to date this morning; or at least the nicest flower that I've seen. The whole thing about the flowers only lasting a short time is more true than I thought. I went out this morning around 11:00 and took a few pictures. I went back inside to get a polarizing filter, accidentally answered the phone and stopped to eat lunch. At which point I made it back out to my side yard about 40 minutes later only to find the flower already wilting. You would think that if a pumpkin plant's goal in life is to make pumpkins, then they would make it a bit easier. I have plenty of time though, right?
