I learned a lot about pumpkins today. In the coming days I will tell you more. The happiest piece of trivia I came across was that pumpkins are usually planted between April and mid June. With that in mind, maybe my plants, or fruiting vines as it were, have a chance. I do hope that I DO NOT somehow grow the biggest pumpkin. I don't have the space...and apparently prize pumpkins can grow 10 to 15 pounds per day.

8/1/10 Cucurbitophobia
Did you know that there was a fear of pumpkins? Well there is a fear of just about everything so I suppose it stands to reason that there would be a fear of pumpkins. It is, as the title implies, cucurbitophobia. Your guess is as good as mine as to how to pronounce it. I found it today whilst looking for pumpkin trivia. I also found out that no one really has any idea how much the biggest pumpkin weighs. There are a lot of claims to who has the biggest, but no one seems to be able to come to a consensus. From what I have been able to figure, the biggest pumpkin weighs more than 800 pounds but less than 10,000 pounds. in truth though the biggest pumpkin 'they' say is around the 1400 pound range possibly grown by some guy in Rhode Island.
